You will serve a vital role in the community by working in TV, being on-air as a news reporter, anchor, or photographer, and providing factual and timely information to the viewers. You will become a trusted resource that's relied on for researching, investigating, reporting, and providing up-to-date information on news in your community.
The job of a news reporter entails conducting interviews, gathering information, writing for web/social and TV, and speaking on camera. As a reporter, no day will be the same. This is not a typical office job. You will be on your feet moving from story to story and collecting sound bites and videos for your story to air on television later that evening. You will need to be adaptable to cover content from hard crime to sports to a new business opening up on Main St.
Choosing a career in TV will be a rewarding one. You will meet many new people and friends while on assignments as you move from market to market. It gives you a chance to see the world around you and experience new things. It also provides you the opportunity to leave an impact on the community in which you will live and work. Providing vital information to the community about events and issues is a basic necessity that you will provide to the viewers. The job is fast-paced and very exciting yet challenging.
