Internships
An internship with a local broadcast station is the first step in a dynamic and rewarding career. Every year local stations are looking to fill entry-level positions. An internship is the best way to “jump start” your career.

A broadcasting career encompasses the full panoply of communications media and services. Dynamic opportunities are available for both audio and video services. This includes traditional radio and television as well as an expanding array of digital services. This includes careers in content creation, production, news, sales, engineering, business administration, podcasts as well as on-air opportunities.

Local broadcasting offers professionals a variety of career experiences across the state. Employment opportunities exist in small markets such as Watertown, Binghamton, Plattsburgh and Corning, where a person may be responsible for multiple professional tasks at a small station. New York also has several medium-sized markets such as Albany, Syracuse, Buffalo, Rochester and Long Island which provide opportunities for significant career advancement. Of course, there is New York City; the largest and most competitive media market in the world.

Whether you are interested in video or audio, big market or small market, big companies or small businesses, broadcasting has opportunities for you.

While NYSBA assists stations with internships, members of the New York State Broadcasters Association select their own interns. If you are seeking an internship, you should contact the local radio and television station directly. We provide member radio and television stations with a list of individuals seeking internships in their market.
